Which zone are you living in right now? When are you performing at your best? Just recently our #HR team, Peas in a Pod Consulting introduced me to this model with the words... "It's not good to live in your comfort zone or panic zone for long periods. Aim to live on the edge of your stretch zone." Over the years I've lived in all three of these zones. 😔 Comfort Zone feels unfulfilling. 😫 Panic Zone feels overwhelming. 😍 Stretch Zone is where I'm learning. Recognising, shifting and balancing how I manage the zones is the hardest part - knowing when to make a change and then stepping out my comfort zone to make it. Anyone else recognise this model? Helpful? Interested in your thoughts Justyna Brownbridge, Lee Welch, Hayley S., Juliet Atkinson, Ellie Moore, Thomas Jenewein with regards learning zones. #learning #learningculture #learninganddevelopment

Txs for sharing - here some thoughts. This is a helpful model for many use-cases in learning, like Designing exercises in training or coaching to be in the stretch zone. Reflecting and improving your performance, like avoiding being in the panic zone Also for your own conscious choice when and where you want to be in which zone. Stretch zone is not always needed ... Also for management it is important to bring your employees in stretch and comfort, certainly not panic zone...

Hi Sarah, thanks for sharing this and whether it’s performance or learning, I think that it’s important to have a degree of self awareness on what (and who) motivates you and energizes you. It’s also important to know when to rest and also to surround ourselves with people who support us in different roles (supporting, challenging, cheerleading, and so on). Curious to know your thoughts Darragh Power

Love this Sarah. I’ve lived in all three and one of the most incredible career experiences I’ve had was when I threw myself into the panic zone and navigated into my stretch zone. Tough but highly fulfilling journey that has opened many doors. It’s too easy to fall into a day to day routine and comfort zone. Great reminder, thank you! #whatinspireme

It is a model I can relate to. I am for sure the most creative and productive at the south edge of panic zone. Comparing it to the Maslow pyramid we all know I am wondering if especially during COVID-19 first of all we should seek and find stability in the comfort zone. Then we can dare more challenging tasks and endeavors.

Sarah Goodall, I can't stop thinking, that everyone insisting it's so great being outside their own comfort zone, must be unaware, that if that was actually true, they are technically still in their comfort zone :-)

I’ve come to learn that when I’m writing, consulting, coaching, or teaching I’m in my stretch zone. I’m totally bored in the comfort zone. I’ve been struggling not slip into the panic zone lately ... with the pandemic and circumstances here in the USA it’s been a challenge to remain calm & mindful. Summer swimming and long walks have been my escape!

Does it have to be just one? I feel like I like with one foot afraid to step from comfort to stretch and one foot in panic!

A familiar model I often use Sarah Goodall. Recognising where you are is really helpful for playing to strengths and staying engaged.

Gone passed all those and now into 'gonna take a sabbatical until it's all done' mode... 👍
